SPRING 2017 UPDATE/ FIRST IMPRESSIONS ON WORLDS END (SUKASUKA)

2017 UPDATE and Worlds End first impressions!

Feel free to skip to the indented 1. if you're only here for the first impression, the pretext is a context update for this blog.

2017 and it's been a long time, I've both grown as a person and not grown in many ways. Some say I should be doing my dissertation right now, they would be right. However I felt like coming back to my old anime blog as there is a lot of good stuff this season and it is helpful for my work ethic.

This was originally going to be a Spring 2017 anime first impressions article but after how much I wrote for the first entry I decided I just wanted to get a piece out and it would pull too much time from my pressing university work. But anyway I've decided to restart my blog (again) but I am changing it up a little. If one thing university has taught me is that people like different things in many ways so I'm going to be releasing a mix of shorter quick read articles and anime/gaming content and more longer pieces. I'd like to be able to reach out to people and casting the net wide is a good way to start so I'm not limiting myself to a specific niche. Having different size content also will help the relaunch be successful giving me flexible time limits for pieces and keeping my content fresh for me to write rather than endless churning out long reads.

If there's one thing I've noticed as well these days, it's that people love short articles, especially dare I say it list articles. There are lot of reasons as to why, such as ease of reading, easier skimming in a fast internet age, simpler to keep track of etc. So I'm going to try to cater to that audience as well, though I will keep longer pieces up and pray they get views also.

So onto the anime, here's a show I'm looking forward too and hyped myself up for pretty highly.

  1.  Worlds End: What will you at the end of the world? Are you busy? Will you save us? Shuumatsu Nani Shitemasu ka? Isogashii desu ka? Sukutte Moratte Ii desu ka?(SAKUSAKU)                                                                           Of all the shows that are airing this is probably the one I'm looking forward to the most. Some are saying it's the "Re:Zero" of this season, though I think that title goes over to "The grimoire of Zero" (no relation based on name I promise). The show is set in a fantasy setting similar to Re:Zero/Sword art online, our MC is a man who presumably survives the battle where humanity is wiped out and the other races retreats to sky islands where they are mainly safe from the beasts that wiped out humans. He gets a job offer to be a caretaker for a weapons cache after a short run in with a blue haired girl. The exposition of their encounter is similar to that of Grimgar of fantasy and ash in that it has a music focus and shows story and interaction rather than telling it directly (a medium that I personally enjoy but it is not for everyone and if every show did it would become repetitive very fast). Slight fast forward and when he arrives surprise surprise he meets the blue haired girl again and the warehouse is more like a homely board house for many children rather then a weapons warehouse like he was told, (I'll let you guess what that implies, it's pretty obvious).                                                                                                                                                                   So the predominant theme in this anime is coming to terms with family and loss. The MC used to be a fighter and his family would worry about him coming home alive and well and now the roles are reversed as he takes on a guardian figure for the children and they do the fighting with some pretty grim world realities based on their power source. The show starts off pretty slow, allowing you to pick up things about the setting just by observation, a hope I have for the show is that it is 24 episodes as if they take too long doing world building something later down the line will suffer either character relationships or surged plot that seems abrupt. It does start out with what appears to be a future part of the story that promises lots of action and development almost as if it's saying "you'll get your action, but first let me set up a world for you to care about"                                                                                                                                                                                                           A quick final things I like in this show, it has fan-service but it's not OTT, the kids are cute in a "P L E D G E  - T O - P R O T E C T" kind of way and I'm sure they'll grow on me as the series progresses.
The music is calming and has good tempo relative to the events and the world seems to have a lot of possible detail that gets gradually shown. The animation is pleasing enough to the eye and once we get the battle sequences with them translucent wings I imagine we're in for an aesthetic treat. And of course there's an ogre in a maid costume who seems to want to eat the MC in a sexually indicative way but that's another matter.  High hopes for this show, watch out for pacing and feels.

And as always,
Thanks for reading :)
